It's a while since i last blogged anything.
Started work 6 days ago... training's tough as there were lots to pick up, kinda getting used to it already but i think there is more to come as we are only at the basic level... things are gonna get worse when we get to our cell. The cell that i'm going to does thrust-reversers (things that slow the plane down upon landing in addition to the brakes on the landing gear...) for big commercial aircraft like A380s, 777s, etc, etc. I'm gonna learn as much as i can and hope that Goodrich confirms me as their perm staff so as to free myself from the acursed title of "contract worker"...
December's coming soon, hope my cell leader is a good person as i plan to apply for a part-time Diploma in Mechanical Engineering @ SP. Its gonna put a dent my hopes of advancement in my job if i cannot go study as i feel that although Goodrich is a MNC, paper qualification still plays a big part of getting promotions, pay increments and such...
For the past week i have been going to my family temple for festivities... this year the temple could not get permission to hold the temple celebrations outside, so we had to make do inside. This year was a bumper year for the usual bidding of blessed items during the celebratory dinner. Bids as high as 4k were put forward! That's the highest i have ever heard anywhere! Some of the temple regulars also sponsored performances by a lion & dragon dance troupe as well as a "getai" for the temple! How generous... i guess the gods there really helped his company alot... Guess i should go back and be a regular again like when i was young?
I remember when i was young, i stayed over at the temple and played drums and gongs for the rituals with my cousin Cavin... those days were fun although its was tough... We could play non-stop for hours. You could say we were like professionals! Those were the days... Now a younger generation has taken over. Our cousin and Cavin's younger brother now plays them too occasionally although they too, as showing signs of boredom. This past week while we were there, Cavin suddenly posed a question which i have never taught of before.
When the old geezers now running the show at the temple are unable to continue, who will take over? What will happen to the customs and traditions that our great grandfather brought over from china many years ago? Will it be destroyed at our hands?
