I'm gonna be refereeing games at the coming Singapore Paintball Series - the biggest Paintball event in Singapore to date this weekend at East Coast Park starting at 8-6pm, Angsana Field near CarPark E2. The love for photography is slowly taking me in. Its even taking me away from my paintball.

Oh well, i only have time for one at a time. Nevertheless, the lack of paintball don't worry me too much as i wont see any paintball action prolly till November so i guess i can take a breather from it now.

The bike is now at Beng's, the old boy having ruptured a few its radiator and its hoses and is now having an operation to repair the defects. Due to the situation of being transport-less, i'm forced to take public transport again after so many years...

Hope i don't get lost in the crowds, the ever confusing MRT lines and the oh so many different numbers of buses...

I miss my bike.





And i still hate public.

Wow, its been 3 months since i blogged about anything. I guess i have been really "busy".

A big sorry to my readers (if any is left lol) for not updating this as much as i should have...

Here's some of the more significant things that transpired in these 3 months:

Job load has increased with the "subcon" of a "new" type of unit to my dept by another dept, therefore was quite busy.

After bringing my Dark Militia Paintball team to MPOC leg 4, we had an improved standing of 7th position after coming in mid table at 11th during the previous leg we took part in.

Dark Militia (Noob Version) came in as champions during the recently concluded Noob Wars held at Red Dynasty Paintball. I wasn't qualified to take part as i wasn't a noob no more - Participants should not have joined any local (SG) tourneys up until Noob Wars - therefore i volunteered to take photos of the event with my D90.

I have changed bike. Yes, again, thanks for the comments. Was looking to downgrade but upgraded instead as the price was pretty close to what my budget was, soooo... I did the "Mistake". However, i'm pretty much enjoying the ride so i guess i'm happy with my mistake! Still, i do miss the ole GSXR for the speed and agility - the "new" bike is a mammoth! LoL!

My friend Candy Quek (Hello Kitty Rider) passed away on 28th June 2010 while riding her bike to work. Was totally shocked when i got the news that she was "no more"... My heart still aches at the sad way such a young, pretty and friendly gal passed.



RIP Dear Candy.

Well thats about all for this morning, going back to to work after 2 days - 1 and a half days MC for pain in the shoulder blade, actually - seems like.. =)

PS: If u are wondering why i blogging again after 3 months, u gotta thank pegs for "informing" me that she has a blog again, "blaming" me for not bringing her prata at 9pm in the night all the way to her house in her blog and me for waking up at 4am to piss thus not being able to go back to sleep therefore having the free time to blog... Was busy training with the (Paintball) team for MPOC which would be held in KL on the 17th-18th of April, not to mention practicing my newest (expensive) hobby - Photography.

Busted my bonus (huge part of it) on a D90, realising my dream of having a DSLR ever since i got my first digital camera (see my FB photos and you know what i mean).

Anyways, tml will be early Qing Ming for my family, so tomb sweeping tml, will prolly bring the d90 for some exercise though i think i should not be taking pictures there lol...

Ehhh 12+ am liaos... guess i better get to sleep. gotta wake up at 4am!

Paintball

Team Dark Militia

When we participated in paintball in some way or another, towards the end of last year, we would have never thought that we would be gathered like lost souls last minute to form a team for SPNS09... Through the combined efforts of BBen, SBen, Jane and Grant, we formed a team and fought our way onto the podium for the second runner's up spot at RD (Leg 1).

Come Leg 2 we were thrown into uncertainty as RD and PBAS took SPNS to a greater stage by taking the competition out into the heartlands. New bunkers, extra big spaces meant more running, more specific tactics, more places to watch out for. It took a toll on all of us as it showed during the competition - Weijun had to leave before quarterfinals due to illness, Cavin has a massive fever (got tonsillitis and MC-ed for 2 weeks), Rashid had a banged-up shoulder and was unable to play. The other team members were also suffering from fatigue from playing so much, so fast. All these factors combined to a lower placing than Leg 1. We fought to a gritty 4th placing in Leg 2.

RD and PBAS outdone themselves by securing new bunkers as well as the new location of the scenic West Coast Park. It almost didn't happen though, as the location was dependent on the number of teams joining Leg 3. Luckily for the paintballing community it did happen, and we were treated to seabreeze while playing paintball, a la Huntington Beach? Hahaha! We DMs were quite prepared for it although we were quite unsure if we wanted to join, as a few members are already playing in D3, some were thinking of giving paintball and their wallets a rest. We finally decided to make it a good one for what might be our last Singaporean PB competition. We are glad that we did, as we screamed and fought our hearts out with only 6 players and came home with a winner's medal!

We hope to emulate the success of one of our friendly rivals, the Singapore Contract Killers (runnner's up in D4 world Cup Asia) and make a name for ourselves by crossing over to Malaysia (either D4 or D3 still remains to be seen).

Work

Its been quite a ok year for me at work, no hiccups and getting promoted to Senior Tech 3. Hope it goes well for me, next year aim for Tech 2!

Studies

Its going well, only that i failed Engineering Maths and would have to retake them this sem, and that Applied Mechanics is not a easy subject to comprehend as well. Hopefully i can clear both of them with one shot.

Love

Still no one just as yet, many have asked me to just anyhow find one and "chiam see tong" (no not the politician, but the meaning - as a stop-gap measure) as well as to "gain experience". Well in a way its true that i am prolly the least experienced in the ways of love but i believe it will come naturally from the heart and that someone will appreciate it. Saying that, i prolly need to find more activities which puts me in touch with more girls in order to maximise the chances of me meeting "The One" (no not Kiko!!). Bros, Sisters and friends. U peeps know what to do! Bring more gerls out! Can be friends even if does not suit me! Good way to widen my social circle too!

SPNS 2009 Leg 3 Champions

YESSSS~

After our debut earlier in the year where we got 3rd in leg 1, we got 4th in leg 2, now, we are champions of leg 3. It has been an extraordinary experience which i had enjoyed immensely.



I think we proved ourselves today, to our detractors/doubters, that we can win.

I'll enjoy the moment, i think we've earned it.

A very happy weekend

Yo.

Had a very enjoyable weekend this week although i had to cancel my long awaited track session due to the big rain in the morning in SG and PG. Played soccer at The Cage in the afternoon and met up with Ervin, his GF, Nick and Xiao Xiao @ Potong Pasir in the evening. Had a very nice Zhi Char dinner at the nearby coffeeshop.

We were making plans to go somewhere when it rained heavily. I took the first chance i've got to rush back home (5 mins away) and Nick and XX came to my place to pick me up in their car before we proceeded to our usual haunt @ Cine Xing Wang. Loads of people then arrived to look for us - Michael, Roland, Sho, Matthew, Duck, Duck GF, JH - even the newly commissioned Mountaineers, Mr Davie Chai and GF. Talked alot of cock - XX promised to intro her friend to me (yay!) - before going down to YD to some seabreeze. Sat there until like 4+ before we decided to head for home, Nick and XX were meeting their friends to go to Desaru at 9.45am and i was to meet Grant and Co for Paintball Training in Malaysia at 9am.

Slept at 5am, woke up at 7, headed to Grant's house to park the bike before taking his car and picking everyone else up. Rashid could not make it due to work, so we picked up David instead. Had a fab training session, using e-markers provided by Grant on various drills, including a couple of skirmishes against one of the local teams. We lost the first one but won the second one. Got "killed" on both ocassions lol. Playing with E-markers was a great experience, would prolly now consider going into d4 or even d3, provided we can get sponsorship or we can fork out the moola to get the markers. Returned home in time for dinner with the parents. Couldn't sleep until after 1am... Die.

Woke up at 6am, turned off the alarm, and fell right back to sleep. Was almost 8 when i woke. Took halfday. Went back to sleep, Someone was having renovations nearby... drifted in and out of sleep, the next thing i know, it was 12+ Sheeet. Took rest of the day off. Could not sleep anymore so watched movies until it was time for dinner and left for school after that.

So fast and its already friday morning. Its now 2am and i can't get to sleep. Just WTF ding dongs am i thinking about? Zzzzz... My eyes are red and i've got school tml. Boring DC Circuits. I hope those new units come in tml to allow the time to past faster.

Unknowingly, its friday again. Wish me luck, and TGIF, again.

Its been a boring and stressful few weeks, workload has been spiraling upwards and downwards so much that i have experienced stress, relief and boredom all in a period of a few weeks. Add on the stresses of school common tests...

Argh.

Have not been getting any paintball these days, missed soccer last week so there hasn't been any chance to have a fun workout and sweat.

Things aren't all stressed though, the paintball's coming back, might have training in malaysia this sunday, looking forward to paint-ing (somebody).

The planned track session is a go for saturday, less rainy weather which we have been seeing so much nowadays. Added my new Olins damper as well as had my suspension set. Hopefully can put my virgin Power Ones (tyres) to good use.

Heard Alyce buanged at PG yesterday, hope she gets well soon!

Finally going on a short holiday, gonna be riding up to Cameron Highlands on the last weekend of july, which promises to be a fun and exciting ride, something which i have not done in awhile, so i'm damn looking forward to it. 40km's worth of corners, now, who won't look forward to that! If only i have a video camera to tape down the adventure... The digital camera's busted so i guess its gonna have to stay at home. Will some kind soul lend me his or hers? I promise to take good care of it! Going for the holiday would prolly mean that i would miss the class gathering which is set for that weekend. Sorry guys! Next year perhaps!

Relieved to find out that i have cleared the Maths and Materials papers, with DC Circuits just taken last week, its 2 down, one to go. Come on! GIMMIE A PASS! Chose my elective for next sem which would (hopefully) be 3D AutoCAD which one of my classmate will be taking with me (hopefully)

The lovelife, well, it seems tat i'm really getting left behind, Dave has a GF now (sip sip), Bear's going out with someone quite frequently (DAILY? WOW!), me, still alone, but not (THAT) despo though (YET, LOL~!), patiently looking. Both the above mentioned has promised help should they be able to provide it, i sincerely thank them, its good to have them as friends, even Marcus is trying to (sorta) help so "atas" (upz) for him too.

Been to busy(lazy) to blog, every weekend is packed to the brim. Its time to finally take a break, and recap.

Aftermath of SPNS

SPNS was fun, with the field being brought outside of the paintball field over at RD for the first time in paintball history in Singapore. Almost every team was strengthened with players old and new, and i believe this is first time since the inception of SPNS that there are so many new teams joining, Rebels r Us, Seekers - Strike & Destroy, ARES, Five-O, Wargh!Cooks (though formerly known as Wargh!Nuts so they are not new, just new name nia =P), etc, etc.

Everyones' skills seemed to have improved by alot since the last leg, even the newbies are not to be underestimated, esp. the two seeker teams which have been training really hard, with alot of heart! Not that we will underestimate them, as we ourselves have had a surprise showing at SPNS Leg 1, where we (Team Dark Militia) came in 2nd runners up. A team which had never played/trained together @ full strength, a group of lost souls, newbies who have only joined the sport for less than 3-4 months, who were banded together, perhaps just to so called make up the numbers, surprised quite alot of the more established teams to come in 3rd.

This leg, although we only came in 4th, with just medals to show for our efforts, i'm still very darn proud of my team-mates, who fought on even though we lost one of our front players - Weijun - to sickness halfway through qualifying. We would then lose cavin and rashid later on during the finals due to Tonsillitis and shoulder injury respectively. Cavin had to soldier on with the high fever as rashid could not carry his marker anymore. That pretty much left us with four fit players in a five man tourney, and the lineup kinda picked itself without any chance of resting as we progressed until the semis and 3rd/4th playoff. I myself developed a big headache due to the heat and fatigue, and that showed when i collapsed on the team ground sheet after we finished all our games, with a ice pack to my head...

I guess cavin was the worst hit of us all, down with Tonsillitis meant a whole week of MC. Still i believe this leg of SPNS will only serve to inspire us to get better and achieve a higher position in the next leg.

After Dave abandoned me for his mum (and quite rightly so i might add), Michael came to my rescue and asked me out for dinner. We ended up meeting Marcus and Carol with Roland and Matthew in tow. Destination was Bugis and Fish & Co was the makan place. Yummm... Good food 2 weekends in a row.

Prelude to Common Test

Things are starting to heat up for me, as the common tests for the modules i'm taking are coming up next week. Well at least 2 of them are, the EVIL Engineering Mathematics and the very info(not to mention boredom) intensive Engineering Materials and Processes. The common test for Principles of DC Circuits is a further 2 weeks back, so that should not be a problem...

Is it me or is it getting hot in here....

Hi peeps,

as most of you might know, i'm now very into paintball!

I have a paintball team and we are called Dark Militia.

We will be taking part in the one and only paintball league in Singapore (for now), the SPNS - Singapore Paintball Novice Series - 2009 on 17th May, Sunday (TOMORROW!). Please come and support me and my team if u have the time or come down and check out how competitive paintball is played. Definitely an exciting and adrenaline pumping event not to be missed!

For Leg 2 of SPNS, we will taking competition paintball outside the paintball field for the very first time. The event will be held at Pasir Ris Park, Native Lawn, accessible by Car Park C.

Busy, busy weekend

Its been a busy weekend for me, studying, gaming, paintballing.

Did a half day OT on friday (replacement holiday for Vesak day).

Played Left 4 Dead with the usual co after school on friday night.

Met Cavin's GF and Lydia (the gang's friend) for the first time.

Was very disappointed that Cavin refused to go for paintball training in JB the next day after the game. I'm beginning to question his commitment for the team... I'm esp. disappointed as Grant had to ask Julya to take Chak's car instead so as to accommodate us in his car and Cavin simply didn't bother. Could see the disappointment in Grant's eyes when we told him he wasn't coming.

Slept at 4, woke up at 7, met Vince, popped over to Grant's place to park the bikes there. Picked up Bryan (spelt correctly?) at Tiong Bahru and went ahead to go to the SX paintball field in Austin Hills, JB. The place is quite big and nicely landscaped as it was a golf resort? The field is located just behind the main building.















The field is quite big, bigger than the SB field in RD. That pretty much gave me and Vince an idea how much different it is gonna be at SPNS leg 2 with the bigger field and all. Did some drills and had a couple of minor skirmishes before we had a rest to eat and wait for the field to replenish some paint.

Me and Vince went to the resort cafe to have our lunch after we became hungry after the adrenaline rush wore off while waiting for the paint to arrive. The food there are quite expensive and were prolly not worth the price at all. Vince had Penang fried kuey tiao and i had Hokkien mee. Drinks was Watermelon juice for Vince and 100+ for me. The bill came up to be a hefty 40+ ringgit. Oh well. At least the paint was cheap. 6 peeps paid about 40 SGD each for 2 boxes of paint! Its so cheap, its freaky! Advice after drills was given by some peeps from the teams who were playing Div 2 in the Malaysian Leagues. Great stuff. Would definitely want to go there again to train. Now abit itchy for E-Markers already... LOL! Left the place at 4 feeling all tired and well worked out. Really wished my whole team was there though... it was good practice.

We got home around 6. Went out with the parents for a "Mothers day" family dinner straight. I napped for a couple of hours when i got home before going to Cineleisure to meet Dave and Ervin. La kopi-ed at Xin Wang Cafe again and left to meet Louis and the others at Yishun Dam. It rained just as we were nearing Yio Chu Kang and we hid under the bridge. Left for dam after the rain let off abit only to find that the gang has left for jalan kayu. Popped over to Jalan Kayu for some tea and then left for dam again. Slacked there until about 5+ and quickly left after the lightning began to intensify. Wacked all the way home, rained when i was less than 2 clicks away from home. Got wet, again. ZZzz

Selpt until 12, going to Jess house later for Tai gong's death anniversary, gonna do my tutorial as well as some studying there as i'm having a maths quiz tomorrow...

Shagged and Left 4 Dead

Saturday was the first time i played Left 4 Dead.

IT ISH FUN!

Damn fun.

Met cuzzies: Kenneth (and Maggie), Cavin as well as friends: Eric, Elaine(?) Ivan for the L4D session. Was in a team with Ken, Mag, Cav and me while the others made up the others + a computer character. The game is a first person shooter and is set like Resident Evil where everyone turns into zombies and survivors have to make it out of the city.

It was the first time me (LAN and as infected) and Cav played the game. Everyone has a go at being the survivors as well as the infected. The survivors uses guns and the infected uses their bare hands and teeth. Before u put off the infected, they do have special abilities which allow them to gain an advantage when you have the right tactics.

Before the game was dinner with ken and mag, we caught cav's new gf after he refused to have dinner with us but ate with her instead opposite his place. We caught them at the carpark after we went over (his place is just opposite mine) to pick him up as we had finished our dinner earlier.

We finished around 1.30am and left for home as Mag had a flight at 7am. Was gonna go out to meet dave but it rained hard. So its back to the compy for some Need for Speed and BED!

Met my DM peeps for some training/skirmish with the new team in town - The two teams of the Seeker Family, Destroy & Strike. The Seekers are very committed, esp their captain, who could be heard during the game, shouting at his team to attack. Very friendly and down to earth peeps too.

There was only time to help ref a few games and skirmish with the Seekers once before everyone had to go, we won that one with me bunkering the last player in the snake who was getting pumped full of paint from all sides.

Though we had only a couple of games, we identified a couple of things to work on, one is our communication as well as the various codes during the game.

With SPNS LEG 2 coming up fast and furious (MAY 17 @ Pasir Ris Park Near Carpark C - PLS COME AND SUPPORT MY TEAM!!!), we need to squeeze in as much training as we can, hopefully next week we can go JB to train, cheaper paint as well as bigger fields.

Went home to rest for awhile before proceeding to play soccer with the usual peeps. Didn't run as much, prolly due to the exertions in the morning. Scored quite a few though, the most spectacular of which was a first time left foot volley.

There were quite a few injuries suffered, i too got hit in the face by the ball, if i never remembered wrongly it was Marcus. I'm considered lucky though, some got kicked in the shin, ball hitting the privates, chest, stepped on the foot, etc, etc.

After soccer, me and Dave went down to Jalan Kayu for dinner. Both of us were so shagged that we left immediately for home to rest. In fact, i was so tired that i forgot the fact that i left my boots at the court. Luckily Nick kept it for me and i will be getting it from him tml.

Thats about all that what happened last weekend. Oh yeah, i was like so, so tired, that i had to take a halfday off work as i couldn't wake up in time, + it rained hard this morning. A halfday leave turned into a full day leave as i forgot to turn on my alarm and i slept until 12+pm. What a waste of precious leave... =/

Got a maths quiz next week. Wish me luck!

Played soccer after work with the peeps. Marcus and Carol came down and joined us for the very first time! Carol wasted no time getting out her camera and started snapping away after our game. We then proceeded to restore the fats that we've lost at the newly renovated KKFC. The decor was nice but there was no more free drink refills... So sad.

Took a day off to settle some stuffs as well as to go and apply for my new passport. The old one was dirty, spoilt and running out of pages. Watched Paul Bart, Mall Cop with Pegs (I treated her to watch the movie with me -again- and she treated me to a nachos combo in return) at night. The movie was quite funny, although i didn't really enjoy the movie due to the emoing i was going though at that point of time. Pegs went to find her friends after that and i met up with the godbro - he was having problems - for dinner.

Met Andy, My BMT mate after that (evidently he was also at Cineleisure and he saw me and called me) and we chatted for quite long. Roland and co went off to Jalan Kayu. Me and Dave would later move off to Yishun Dam where we were joined by Bear. Went off to AMK Mac after that as it was gonna rain. Went home around 4+ am.

Soccer session was fun... damn fun, even though my team lost 2-0, we had lots of chances to win it - if i had taken all my chances (rusty la... somemore its been like 10 years since i've played soccer on a basketball court). I must admit, I'm pretty surprised myself, cos i ran my heart out. Might not looked like it, but i pretty much ran for every ball (nick can attest to that =P) without feeling tired (much) even though i haven't played soccer for the past few months after i picked up paintball with Vince (my street soccer kaki). I think the hearty performance was due to the session being at night and the paintball sessions that i've had...

Paintball helps OK.

Surprisingly, after my blog entry about the peep from HDB not calling me back, well, he called (wonders if someone monitoring this?). We arranged to meet up tuesday evening (Today) after work.

Mr Hamed arrived promptly at the appointed time and was very polite. He seemed very understanding and helpful to listen to the problems and take note of my suggestions. Whats left now is to see if anything will be done besides the more-or-less confirmed metal poles infront of the bike lots to improve the bike lot shortage.

Kudos to a civil servant who serves the citizens even after work hours. We do need more people like him in the service. Lets now hope that he can deliver.
