2011

In a flash, 2010 is over, and here comes 2011. One more year till we get attacked by aliens if what some ancient race predicted is true. ;) Oh well, we best enjoy life while it lasts eh?

The usual thing to do in the beginning of the year is to look back at what we have done in the past year and what we hope to improve in the new year.

Heres some of the things that i hope to improve in the new year @:

Work:

Hopefully i do get some "actual" (promotion, etc) recognition instead of the usual "You know we want to push u up but this but that..." I don't think i can tolerate that kind of crap anymore.

Play:

More of the same please. Going out with friends like Edward, Malcolm, Enyao, Dave, etc, etc always make my day.

Paintball:

I hope to bring my team to greater heights. Hope to be a better captain for my teammates too.

Photography:

I hope to be able to bring my level and knowledge to greater heights so that one day i might be able to do this full time.

Love Life:

Still no inroads with this one, hopefully i can overcome my shyness and find the one and only in my life. ;)

Well, nevertheless if i manage to achieve what i have set for myself this year, as long as my friends, family and i are safe and happy, i guess nothing else matters.

NeX

Welcome to NeX ala Vegas Style?

Finally, after waiting for a few years, the MRT line and the mammoth Shopping Centre - NeX - is open. The SC wasn't officially open yet but there were already hordes of people there.

I took some time off my "busy" schedule (actually i had nothing to do cos Dave canceled a photography session and my backup plan of going to ECP to shoot some failed due to the weather) and walked over to the SC.

Its big and already about 70% of the stores are opened. It took me about 15-20 mins to finish walking the entire SC with exception to the top floor which houses the Sky Garden as well as the National Library. From the floor below it looked like there is a playground for kids too similar to that of Vivo City.


I liked the store name.


Kiddie chairs in the form of race cars and bikes... look there's Barney playing on the TV in front of the seats at Super Cuts!

Restaurants, Eateries and Fast Food Joints occupy most of the shop space - in addition to the ever present ladies wear/shoe shops. Surprisingly, there were many - too many IMHO - EyeWear and Salons under one roof. What's disappointing is that there were no major clothing brands - with exception to prolly Esprit (does Isetan count?), no major Sporting brands - only Sports Link and World of Sports. I didn't manage to see where the Cinemas' are at too.

In conclusion:

Good(s) and Bad(s) about NeX

The good(s) about NeX would be the choice of Eats, Party World KTV, the library, the no. of Cinema Halls, the (relatively cheap) parking - YES BIKES CAN GO IN TOO - Car rates are at $1.20 per hr, $0.60 per half hr thereafter - Sat, Sun and public holidays are an additional $0.10, bikes go in at a flat rate of $1.20 per entry, EVERYDAY.

The bad(s) about NeX would be the lack of Major brands (i'm guessing cos it's still a neighborhood shopping mall) and the lack of a dedicated Men's clothing store.

Hi peeps, i'm back!

Exams are finally over! Yay!

Got my bike back, like finally.

2 whole weeks of public transport really opened my eyes, the mrt is going everywhere now. However, problems like overcrowding, confusing interchanges and signs, waiting time still persist.

I'm really glad that i have my bike back, the horrible taxi fares incurred were really killing me. Add that to the frustration of having to check the MRT maps wherever i go really sucks. I'm more appreciative of the bike now, hope it doesn't give me any more problems.

I'm still taking alot of pictures, as some of you might see in my facebook account. Been walking all over town as well as other places. The longest distance will be from town to Telok Blangah. Kinda makes up for the lack of soccer sessions these 3 weeks.

The love for photography is slowly taking me in. Its even taking me away from my paintball.

Oh well, i only have time for one at a time. Nevertheless, the lack of paintball don't worry me too much as i wont see any paintball action prolly till November so i guess i can take a breather from it now.

The bike is now at Beng's, the old boy having ruptured a few its radiator and its hoses and is now having an operation to repair the defects. Due to the situation of being transport-less, i'm forced to take public transport again after so many years...

Hope i don't get lost in the crowds, the ever confusing MRT lines and the oh so many different numbers of buses...

I miss my bike.





And i still hate public.

Wow, its been 3 months since i blogged about anything. I guess i have been really "busy".

A big sorry to my readers (if any is left lol) for not updating this as much as i should have...

Here's some of the more significant things that transpired in these 3 months:

Job load has increased with the "subcon" of a "new" type of unit to my dept by another dept, therefore was quite busy.

After bringing my Dark Militia Paintball team to MPOC leg 4, we had an improved standing of 7th position after coming in mid table at 11th during the previous leg we took part in.

Dark Militia (Noob Version) came in as champions during the recently concluded Noob Wars held at Red Dynasty Paintball. I wasn't qualified to take part as i wasn't a noob no more - Participants should not have joined any local (SG) tourneys up until Noob Wars - therefore i volunteered to take photos of the event with my D90.

I have changed bike. Yes, again, thanks for the comments. Was looking to downgrade but upgraded instead as the price was pretty close to what my budget was, soooo... I did the "Mistake". However, i'm pretty much enjoying the ride so i guess i'm happy with my mistake! Still, i do miss the ole GSXR for the speed and agility - the "new" bike is a mammoth! LoL!

My friend Candy Quek (Hello Kitty Rider) passed away on 28th June 2010 while riding her bike to work. Was totally shocked when i got the news that she was "no more"... My heart still aches at the sad way such a young, pretty and friendly gal passed.



RIP Dear Candy.

Well thats about all for this morning, going back to to work after 2 days - 1 and a half days MC for pain in the shoulder blade, actually - seems like.. =)

She was laughing and smiling at it all while the boyfriend just stood nearby and looked on with a face blacker than black...

Life is short, make it shorter?

Yeah i do stand by my motto:

Life is short, make it shorter!

But please, do not misinterpret my words;

It means to enjoy your life to the max, even if it means to make shorter due to doing dangerous (but fun things like) extreme sports - like my Friend and BMT mate Jeremy Goh, who passed away after his boat collapsed after a Dragon Boat Race abroad. Do what u love, make your life count, don't regret while walking towards the light at the end of the tunnel or while lying down taking your last breath, that u did not do this, u did not do that.

Read this article about this Poly Girl, whom took her own life recently due to a broken relationship.

Kinda reminds me of my BMT mate, who also took his own life for the same reason.

There is no reason, to take your own life.

Don't be selfish, don't be stupid.

Think of your parents, your friends, your loved ones.

Who will take care of your parents when u are gone? Do they need to suffer the anguish just because u decided to end yours?

Even if u are beat down, abandoned by the one u love, do u really want to grant their evil wish to put u down? For me, living well is the best revenge. Show them that u can be just as happy, if not happier, without them.

Think about it before u do anything silly.

Been busy (lazy too) as of late, thus the no update.

Was busy training with the (Paintball) team for MPOC which would be held in KL on the 17th-18th of April, not to mention practicing my newest (expensive) hobby - Photography.

Busted my bonus (huge part of it) on a D90, realising my dream of having a DSLR ever since i got my first digital camera (see my FB photos and you know what i mean).

Anyways, tml will be early Qing Ming for my family, so tomb sweeping tml, will prolly bring the d90 for some exercise though i think i should not be taking pictures there lol...

Ehhh 12+ am liaos... guess i better get to sleep. gotta wake up at 4am!

So many things to do, so little time.

Its been busy as usual, work, school, plus i have been busy painting my room, again, yes. It has been deemed too dark, too emo (chuckles). Therefore i'm changing it to brighter colors.

Time, is now, something that i have very little of, in terms of studying time and shopping time for CNY.

CNY is 2 weeks away, exams are 3 weeks away.

Damn.

And i'm only free on weekends due to school and work.

Double damn.

So far only bought a pair of jeans... no tops just as yet... hopefully i can find more time to do my things.

Stressed

Dang... didn't realise i havent been posting anything for so long...

been a very stressful month for me, work and studies wise, work is not really going smoothly as there are many hiccups prolly as a direct result of not having enuff experience with the unit as well as other factors.

School after work is not helping either. I realised that ever since i started school, i have not been getting much rest as i would have dream filled sleep. Waking up in the morning, i would not feel refreshed but feel more tired instead. There would never seem to be a night which i do not have dreams...

Perhaps thats the reason i'm so emo these days... feel no support, stressed and burned out.

No paintball and no soccer sessions didn't help much too.

Hope i'm not falling apart lol.

Can only hope for the best la ah?
